Vendors & Application Developers

inidus offers two services to Application Developers:

  • Open Platform as a Service - for those who simply want us to host their open platform compliant application
  • Our SaaS Portfolio - a new route to market for those who would like us to take the strain of selling and supporting their application

Open Platform as a Service (PaaS)

Our PaaS is a highly scalable open platform that is fully compliant with the definition of an open platform published by the Apperta Foundation “Defining an Open Platform” based on core set of open standards including openEHR and HL7 FHIR. The PaaS includes:

  • A self-service portal to enable developers to provision the resources they require;
  • Multiple openEHR clinical data repositories;
  • Open APIs (both openEHR and HL7 FHIR);
  • A FHIR based demographics server; and
  • Connectors to legacy systems.

Our PaaS allows developers to build interoperable applications quickly that can be deployed on any standards-compliant open platform.

What Connectors are included?

We will build connectors based on customer demand to enable data to be pulled from other systems to our Open Platform. These include:

  • To each of the GP systems using the NHS Digital CareConnect API;
  • HL7 v2 Admission, Discharge, Transfer (ADT) messages;
  • HL7 v2 laboratory requesting and reporting messages; and
  • HL7 FHIR connector to those vendors implementing the UK INTEROPen Care-Connect FHIR profiles.

What are the benefits of using our PaaS?

  • We provide the “plumbing” so that developers don’t have to. The platform handles many of the issues associated with Information governance, clinical safety, cybersecurity, business continuity and interoperability, speeding up application development.
  • Free access to pre-existing openEHR clinical content as openEHR archetypes as an integral aspect of the PaaS. The openEHR archetypes provide a ready-made data model for representing clinical content and are the building-block of clinical application systems. The current openEHR repositories are the result of over 100,000 person days of clinical input. openEHR also provides a way to create, validate and implement new content without database schema changes and re-engineering.You can explore clinical content using the Clinical Knowledge Manager.
  • An increasing range of platform services that we will be releasing which the developer be able to consume in their applications via a simple API rather than having to design, build and test, complex, possibly safety critical code. The platform services will include clinical calculators, knowledge sources, decision support tools and much more.

Who can benefit from the use of our PaaS?

  • Application developers building new applications by it providing many functions that they would otherwise have to build themselves.
  • Application developers porting existing applications to an open platform environment.
  • Feral system (shadow IT) developers building applications in health and care organisations who wish to do so in a way that is capable of meeting corporate compliance requirements.

SaaS Portfolio

inidus is assembling a portfolio of applications that we will deliver as Software as a Service on our open platform to meet the growing demand for such applications from the NHS.

Many innovative applications are highly desirable to end-users, but are failing to achieve growth due to corporate unwillingness to adopt yet another siloed application.

We are seeking partners who wish to build or port their applications to openEHR and make them available through our SaaS portfolio. We are particularly interested in specialist and departmental systems, and systems supporting care management and integrated care.

What are the benefits of being a partner provider of a SaaS application?

In addition to the benefits of building on our PaaS you get the following additional benefits.

  • Sales opportunities and potential for growth - These are simply not achievable with a standalone product that creates yet another data silo.
  • Appeal to potential customers - As part of an open platform ecosystem, your application will appeal to potential customers currently frustrated by the fragmentation of their data across multiple systems in proprietary and idiosyncratic formats that are unable to keep pace with new models of care.
  • Ability to rapidly evolve your product - As an application sitting on an open platform with all the services, connectors and tools available for our PaaS, you have greater opportunity for further cost-effective development of your application to proactively respond to evolving user needs.
  • Expert advice and guidance - We can help you through the process of building or porting your product to an open platform. We offer training, technical support and consultancy and will make our PaaS available for development and testing.

We will market your application alongside our other applications as part of the growing global open platform ecosystem. inidus will handle marketing, sales, procurement and the bulk of implementation and support, sharing revenue with you and leaving you free to focus on building great software. Whilst we are Initially targeting the UK, we plan to take our portfolio global.

inidus does not seek to own or have exclusive rights to your application. This allows you to explore the new route to market alongside your existing channels.
